TREATMENT OF PAKSHAVADHA

TWO CASE REPORTS:

1. Sri H.Rao, aged 68 years who had previously got an attack of Hemiplegia (left side) some 4-5 years back,

had a similar stroke on 14-6-76 while attending to some house-hold duties in the early morning.

He was immediately attended by the local MOH. Finding no improvement, the patient was brought to me on the next day,

as I had attended on him on the previous occasion.

On examination: The patient had lost his movements of both the left hand and left leg. B.P. was 180/100; no other points of significance were noted.

Treatment:

Ek Ekangaveera rasa 1 pill tds.

Bri Brihatvata chintamani 1 pill once a day.

Maharashnadi quatha 2 tsp tds.

Ma Mahanarayana taila for external application.

Tri Triphala churna 1 tsp with hot water at bed time to relieve constipation.

Er Eroserpintablets one daily for 3 days.

Be Bethadoxin12, 2ml i.m. on alternate days.

Be Berintab 100mg, once daily.

Result: Patient was able to move his limbs within a week and gradually commenced walking in the 2^nd week with the help of a stick. After 4 weeks,he had regained the pre-paralytic condition with added strength to the bargain.

2. Shri PKT Menon aged about 90 years is pujari of a temple near Shimoga. On 24-7-76, while offering puja early in the morning,he got paralytic stroke and became unconscious. On examination, he had lost control over the left arm and leg. B.P. was 180/110, no other points of signii0icance were noted.

Treatment:

Ekanga veera rasa 1 tds,

Brihat vata chintamani, one pill daily

Mahanarayana taila for external application

Eroserpine one tab daily

Geriatone tabs, one daily for general pick-up.

Eroprotein 2 tsp twice with milk.

The patient being too old and not too careful with diet, the B.P. was fluctuating and Eroserpine was given whenever called for. Otherwise, this case also resulted in complete recovery. The patient who used to come down from his hill residence at the temple was able to come down to the city and attend to his routine work inspite of his old age.

The two cases,having come under my care at such short interval and having similar complaints and similar type treatment, are recorded here to stress on the advisability of integrated approach of such serious diseases.
